Lopushna Male Monastery “St. Yoan Predtecha”
Rent an electric vehicle and visit Lopushna Monastery “St. Yoan Predtecha”.
What makes Lopusha Monastery stand out is its architectural history. In its place there was once an another monastery, built during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom and burned down during the Ottoman invasion. The monastery was rebuilt many times during the Ottoman rule, but after the collapse of the Chiprovtsi uprising it remained in ruins for quite some time. Nowadays it is an operating male monastery, which offers food and accommodation for overnight stays. The guests of the monastery can attend the morning and evening church service. In 1853, with the efforts of several clergymen from the neighboring Chiprovtsi Monastery and the help of the locals, today’s church, the residential building, the courtyard gate, the fence and the courtyard fountain were built.
